Alright, we get to try a first.
Saturday the 10th May we'll try and manage the Bearlys Special webcast of The BIG Dirty Orchestra, LIVE at Bearlys and hosted from the Dominican. I'm not sure about the available bandwidth, so it may run unhosted.
Well we're catching up on postings, but I can't post it all , there is just too much great stuff, and that is why its important to catch some of the LIVE shows.
You may also find new clips in the juke boxes and not necessarily featured on the news page. This content is also shared with www.bluestube.com So there may be some different clips on this page at www.bluestube.com and in the Juke Boxes.
We have been LIVE casting on www.BlogTV.com since mid March 2008 and other than one evening with fatal audio problems the streams have been great. Viewers comment on the quality of video and especially audio.
We are trying to grow the medium of course and could use some hosts or producers. I would like to see it stretch a bit further beyond the maritimes. There shoudl be some great show opportuntiies to tie artists interviews into the break periods during LIVE shows.
It looks like the Mersey House in Liverpool Nova Scotia will get a camera setup by the end of this month (may) and they have 100 days of live music for the summer.
BTW: On a last note...we (I) could use a little help when it's convienent. You don't need to go out of your way, I already owe a lifetime or two to others. But, if you think about it, mentioned on your facebook or myspace account, anything about the artist, the venues or the web sites. Point your familiy, friends and acquaintences to the bearlys or bluestube sites, eventually we will be able to give back to thes artists, but first we need an audience.
Karen had internet fans asking for her all night. I guess it got late and they fell asleep. Here she is doing one for the fans.
Matt Hebb is featured on most tunes when he's up. How can you not be a feature with licks like this.
Brad must be doing stuff right, because there are always great players coming out just to play with the house band. Steve on harp chips in on this one.
From JW Jones latest CD BLUELISTED, here's what was happening at Bearlys April 12, 2008.
Almost everytime I go to Bearlys someone new ( to me) shows up with another great performance. Where do they all come from?
The younger player in white on thre right is Jamie and I noticed he started showing up last fall. They just keep coming.
I've caught Karen at the JAM a few times and this is another great performance.
This guy has become one of my favourite artists, I just love the vibe he has and the tone and delivery is a perfect fit. Where are these folks hiding?
Gordie Tucker has a trio with Barry Cooke and Carter Chaplin. Carter was busy, so Buck Tingley sat in, these guys put on a great show.
Barry Cooke inside the Boogie Band. From Thursday April 10,2008
Check their website for the latest details, schedule and performance line up.
Launch Bearlys TV. Live every Thursday (Morgan Davis) and Sunday Nights (The Jam). Some special webcasts for Friday and Saturday, Check the calendar. This is an embedded player, so if you want to join the chat, pick the menu button on the player and enter the show. See you there.
This is classic Scarecrow Blues Band (Fredericton, NB). Dave Beattie, Vocals. Jonny Price and Ian Beattie on Guitars. Peter Rioux on Keys, Pat Peltier on Drums and Chrissy on Bass.
Do you think that this band would be a good band to play Bearlys?
Bearlys House of Blues and Ribs, well known in Halifax, possibly even a good part of the maritimes, and now it's everyone's chance to tune in, to see the great blues performances that happen there every week.
LIVE Webcasting, The Sunday Jam, hosted by Brad Conrad and Thursday nights with Morgan Davis. maybe more stuff later and more venues.
Brad Conrad and his band are just spectactular with Brad and Matt Hebb on Guitar with a Rhythm section made up of Morrow Scott Brown on Bass and Gary Potts on drums.
I've been there many Sunday evenings and there are frequently some serious talented folks popping up, not to mention the band talent. trust me, these guys are really gooood!. But, this is a Jam and there's a few musical novices, once in a while, but that's all part of the fun., music is not a competition. Still, there are more serious players so there's always talent on stage, and great music. So if you get into Halifax, the best time is a Sunday when Monday is a holiday...
This is running on BlogTV.com, flash delivery , at no cost. You can click the title to jump to the show page, or watch from the embeded player when the shows being webcast.
Royalty wise, at present,, there is no mechanism in place to tariff royalties from the Net for SOCAN. Tariff 22 is on the way, and although it's something. I dont think it's any real solution to the economics of playing music.
Ideally, this could turn into a subscription service. Eventually everyone gets to pay a fair fee for the service and the majority of that money will go back to the show venue/production/royalties and the LIVE artists. At that time, the shows will be also offered on a podcast download basis. To start, we'll setup a podcast of a few clips of the jam activity. The podcast content will be at 1 Gig per hour in FLV.
BlogTV allows a Co-Host, so if you have an interest in the production, we can even give you camera control to assist in the evening production.
